BUT Formazza: everything is ready for High Altitude Emotions!
12 July 2024There is very little left until the 2024 edition of BUT Formazza, scheduled for 13 July in the majestic alpine scenery of Alta Val Formazza, in northern Piedmont.
Changes to the routes of the two longest races, but they still go up to 3A
The Formazza Event organizers hoped until the end, but the huge amount of snow still present in the highest parts of Val Formazza forced them, for obvious safety reasons, to make changes to the Bettelmatt Ultra Trail and Bettelmatt Super Race routes.
The good news is that you will still reach the highest point of the route, the legendary Rifugio 3A, at almost 3,000 m above sea level! The approach route will be different: in fact, both on the outward and return journey you will pass by the Città di Busto refuge and the Siedel glacier. The passages at Passo Nefelgiù (2,583 m) and, for BUT, at Rupe del Gesso (2,430 m) have been confirmed.
With these changes Bettelmatt Ultra Trail will have a route of approximately 53 km for approximately 3,165 m D+, while Bettelmatt Super Race will have a route of approximately 40 km for 2,487 m D+.
The Bettelmatt Race route will remain unchanged, 22 km for 1,320 m D+-, which shares the initial stretch of the other two races, but once it has crossed the Nefelgiù Pass, it will descend directly towards Valdo – Formazza, the starting and finishing point of all the distances: obviously confirmed the passage in one of the most famous points of the entire valley, the Toce Waterfall.
We remind you that for BUT, BSE and BR, CRAMPONS are MANDATORY.
The most undecided still have a few hours to decide whether to experience the High Altitude Emotions that have made BUT Formazza famous and which this year promise to be even stronger: registrations close on July 10th!
For the less fit, there is still a possibility: Bettelmatt Mini Trail, 6 km for around 200 m D+. In this case you can also register on the day of the race!
