BUT FORMAZZA: Borgialli and Foerster win the 52 km
13 July 2019
BUT is a candidate with Veia and Rampigada to host the 2022 Sky Running World Championships!
13 February 2020Here we are: on 25 January registrations will open for the 2020 edition of BUT Formazza, scheduled for Saturday 11 July in Alta Val Formazza (VB).
The more than ten-year history of the race that has made this part of the Lepontine Alps one of the favorite destinations of trail runners from all over the world is therefore enriched with a new chapter, as demonstrated by the over 1,000 members representing over 14 countries in 2019.
As per tradition, there will be four planned routes: Bettelmatt Trail, Bettelmatt Skyrace, Bettelmatt Race and Bettelmatt Mini Trail La Stampa.
The routes will follow those of 2019: but if last year it was a forced choice due to the snow, for 2020 Formazza Event has decided to re-propose these tracks which proved to be tough but also decidedly spectacular.
Bettelmatt Trail will therefore take place over a distance of 55.6 km for 3,692 m D+-; Bettelmatt Sky Race will see the athletes compete on a course of 36.7 km for 2,830 m D+-; Bettelmatt Race will have a development of 17.5 km for 880 m D+-; finally BUT Mini Trail will take place on the classic 8 km for about 250 m D+-.
Given the increased mileage, gates and maximum times have also been retouched, to give more people the opportunity to better experience the famous High Altitude Emotions that characterize this race, which sees the athletes of the two longest distances reach the 3000m Refuge 3A, reach the town of Formazza and then go up again from the Toce waterfall, one of the iconic places of this area to then return to the classic place of departure and arrival, the village of Riale at over 1,700 m above sea level.
The 17.5 km Bettelmatt Race route follows the first part of the Bettelmatt Trail, passing by some beautiful lakes, Castel, Boden lakes and Toggia, before returning to Riale.
Also this year BUT Formazza, with Bettelmatt Sky Race, will be part of the Salomon Golden Trail National Series circuit.
Registration will be possible exclusively online via the official website www.butformazza.it.
There are special concessions for those who register by January!
We remember the winners of 2019: Riccardo Borgialli, who should be back at the start and Basilia Foerster in BT, Cristian Minoggio and Mihaela Marinescu in BSR, Mauro Stoppini and Chiara Vanini in BR.
