One Month to BUT Formazza!

BUT Formazza, here we are!
10 July 2025Just over a week to go until the 2025 edition of BUT Formazza, the trail race scheduled for July 12, 2025, set amidst the majestic alpine landscapes of Alta Val Formazza, in northern Piedmont.
Athletes from 11 Countries
Over 600 athletes are already registered for the race organized by Formazza Event, with a slight increase compared to last year. 11 countries are currently represented: Ecuador, France (with as many as 13 athletes), Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Sweden (5), South Africa, Switzerland, and Ukraine. Athletes from 11 Italian regions will also take part: Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria, Aosta Valley, and Veneto.
Standout names at the moment include Riccardo Borgialli, who will compete in the BSR, as well as Federica Zuccollo and Denise Zacco. In the BR, potential front-runners include Andrea Ricchi, Andrea Zucchiatti, and Federico Mussi.
The Courses: BUT and BSR Go Through Claudio and Bruno
As already announced, the “classic” route will return for the two longest distances, featuring the passage through Rifugio Claudio e Bruno before the climb to Rifugio 3A. The descent will take runners down the Siedel Glacier. All races will start in Valdo – Formazza, at 1,200 meters altitude.
The race routes are as follows:
Bettelmatt Ultra Trail (BUT): 56 km with 3,436 m of elevation gain. It includes spectacular points such as Rifugio 3A (nearly 3,000 m), and the Vannino, Morasco, Sabbione, Toggia, and Castel lakes. BUT awards 3 ITRA points and is a UTMB Index 50K qualifying race.
Bettelmatt Super Race (BSR): 42 km with 2,745 m of elevation gain, covering the first part of the long course, up to Rifugio 3A. BSR awards 2 ITRA points and is a UTMB Index 50K qualifier.
Bettelmatt Race (BR): 24 km with 1,320 m of elevation gain, crossing Passo Nefelgiù and the Toce Waterfall. BR is a UTMB Index 20K qualifying race.
Bettelmatt Mini Trail (BMT): 6 km with about 200 m of elevation gain, designed for kids and less experienced runners.
