BUT Formazza, tracks changes confirmed!
6 July 2021BUT Formazza: here we go!
A few days before the 2021 edition of BUT Formazza, scheduled for 10 July in the majestic alpine scenery of the Alta Val Formazza, in northern Piedmont.
It will be the great return of the trail event that made the history of the specialty in this area, after the COVID pandemic forced the organizers to cancel the 2020 edition.
Three routes with the unknown snow
The original routes include: Bettelmatt Trail (BT), over a distance of 57 km for over 3,000 m D+-; Bettelmatt Sky Race (BSR) over 37km for almost 2,500m D+-; Bettelmatt Race (BR) on the classic course, 24 km for 950 m D+-.
However, there could be some changes, which will be decided at the beginning of next week: in fact, the snow is still abundant on the highest points of the route, especially in the most exposed sections to the north, and there may not be the necessary safety conditions to allow the athletes.
One thing is already certain: crampons will be mandatory for the Bettelmatt Trail and Bettelmatt SkyRace.
While waiting to make a final decision on the 3 planned routes, the work of Formazza Event continues, which has always organized the event, to guarantee all the athletes present, coming from 10 Italian regions and representing 11 nations, the best conditions to experience a great day of sport in the fantastic setting of the Alta Val Formazza.
“We are happy – explains the president of Formazza Event, Gianluca Barp – to be able to let trail runners run again in our area, an important step towards a return to normality and a sign of how the Alta Val Formazza and Riale in particular want to become more and more a point of reference for summer sport as they have been for years now for the winter season”.
Salomon Golden Trail National Series
Also in 2021 the event organized by Formazza Event is part of the Salomon Golden Trail National Series circuit, the circuit that brings together some of the most beautiful and spectacular trails in Italy.
BUT it’s FISKY race
This year BUT Formazza will run under the aegis of F.I.Sky (Italian Sky Running Federation).
