One Month to BUT Formazza!
13 June 2025
The 2025 edition of BUT Formazza is approaching rapidly! The trail event is scheduled for July 12, 2025, set against the majestic alpine backdrop of Alta Val Formazza, in northern Piedmont. Each year, the event attracts around a thousand athletes from across Europe.
Athletes from 8 Countries Registered So Far
Registrations, which opened on February 7, are progressing at a good pace: over 300 athletes are already signed up, representing 8 countries: Ecuador, France, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
So far, 10 Italian regions are represented: Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria, and Veneto.
2024 Routes Confirmed
As in the past two years, all races will start from Valdo – Formazza, at around 1,200 meters above sea level, near the town’s festival area — a location much appreciated by participants and logistically very functional.
The routes will be as follows:
-
Bettelmatt Ultra Trail: 57 km with 3,150 m of elevation gain, passing through spectacular locations like the 3A Mountain Hut (nearly 3,000 m), and the lakes Vannino, Morasco, Sabbione, Toggia, and Castel. BUT awards 3 ITRA points and is a UTMB Index 50K qualifying race.
-
Bettelmatt Super Race: 40 km with 2,520 m of elevation gain, covering the first part of the long course up to the 3A Hut. BSR awards 2 ITRA points and is also a UTMB Index 50K qualifying race.
-
Bettelmatt Race: 22 km with 1,320 m of elevation gain, crossing Nefelgiù Pass and the Toce Waterfall. BR is a UTMB Index 20K qualifying race.
-
Bettelmatt Mini Trail: 6 km with about 200 m of elevation gain, suitable for kids and less experienced runners.
No matter which distance you choose, you’ll experience the thrill of “High Altitude Emotions” that only BUT can deliver!
