BUT Formazza: Registration Opens on February 19!
18 February 2026It was truly an emotion-filled edition of BUT Formazza, the one that has just concluded in Val Formazza, in northern Piedmont. Thanks to ideal running conditions — not too hot and with no rain — athletes gave their all on the stunning trails of Alta Formazza. A total of 836 participants had registered, with nearly 800 actually starting the race. They came from 15 nations — Argentina, Austria, Ecuador, France (13 athletes), Germany, Ireland, Italy, Moldova, New Zealand, Peru, Czech Republic, Sweden (5), South Africa, Switzerland, and Ukraine — and from 13 Italian regions: Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria, Valle d’Aosta, and Veneto.
BUT: Victories for Rinaldi and Canino
In the longest race, the Bettelmatt Ultra Trail, victory went to Stefano Rinaldi from Lombardy. Third place went to one of the pre-race favorites, Michael Dola (Team Kailas Fuga), with a time of 6h46’21”.
Rinaldi, who loves this area, led at all intermediate checkpoints and crossed the finish line in Valdo – Formazza, the start and finish point of all the races, in triumph.
