REGULATION 2024

ART. 1 GENERAL INFORMATION

The Formazza Event Amateur Sports Association organizes, in collaboration with the Municipality of Formazza, BETTELMATT ULTRA TRAIL (BUT), BETTELMATT SUPER RACE (BSR), BETTELMATT RACE (BR) and BETTELMATT MINI TRAIL (BMT).

ART. 2 EVENTS

The event offers four events which will take place on 13 July 2024 in a natural environment in the territory of the Municipality of Formazza (VB)

  • Bettelmatt Ultra Trail 57 km e 3150 m D+-  (BUT)
  • Bettelmatt Super Race 39 km  2.520 D+- (BSR)
  • Bettelmatt Race 22 km  1.320 D+- (BR)
  • Bettelmatt Mini Trail 6 km 250 M D+- (BMT)

Each race takes place at free speed, in a limited time and in semi-autonomy.

ART. 3 CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

To participate in the event, previous participation in other events is not required, but it is necessary to:

  • be absolutely aware of the length and specificity of the race and be perfectly prepared.
  • have acquired, before the race, a real capacity for personal autonomy in the mountains in order to better manage the problems associated with this type of test and in particular:
    1. knowing how to deal alone, without help, with climatic conditions that could become difficult due to the altitude (night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow)
    2. be able to manage, even if you are isolated, physical or psychological problems due to great tiredness, gastrointestinal problems, muscle or joint pain, small wounds...
    3. be aware that the role of the Organization is not to help a runner manage these problems

For mountain running, safety depends on the runner's ability to adapt to encountered or foreseeable problems. Participation in one of the events entails unreserved acceptance of these regulations.

ART. 4 SEMI AUTONOMY

Semi-autonomy is understood as the ability to be autonomous between two refreshment points, referring to safety, nutrition and equipment, thus allowing one to adapt to encountered or foreseeable problems such as bad weather, physical discomfort, injuries, etc.

This principle implies the following rules:

  • Each runner must carry all mandatory equipment with him for the entire duration of the race.
This must be presented at the bib distribution and at all times; the race commissioners will be able to verify that the competitors have all the mandatory equipment with them. The competitor has the obligation to submit to these checks, under penalty of disqualification.
  • The refreshment points are supplied with drinks and food to be consumed on site. The Organization provides only natural water for filling water bottles or camel bags.
At the start of each refreshment point, runners must have the quantity of water and food necessary to get to the next refreshment point (to reduce the environmental impact there will be no glasses at the refreshment points).
  • It is forbidden to be accompanied on the route by a person who is not regularly registered.

ART. 5 REGISTRATION METHOD

All athletes who are over 18 years of age and in possession of a sports medical certificate proving the possibility of running in a high altitude mountain environment with expiration no earlier than 07/15/2024 will be able to register. For BR km exception to 15 years with prior written authorization from the parents.

During the opening hours of the Race Office it will be possible to submit the backpack with the mandatory material to the race officials for inspection. The race will take place in any weather condition. In the event of significant weather phenomena (strong storms, snow, fog, etc.) the organization reserves the right to postpone the departure time, make route changes even at the last minute, suspend or cancel the event in order to eliminate any dangers or conditions of great discomfort for the participants. Any changes will be communicated to participants and reported by the staff.

Organization staff will be present on the route and various aid stations will be set up along the route, connected by radio or telephone with the race direction; at the base of Valdo and on the route there will be ambulances, healthcare personnel, security personnel and emergency vehicles.

Any runner who is injured or in difficulty can call for help:

  • by calling the emergency numbers printed on your bib (except for points without telephone network coverage)
  • asking another runner to alert the emergency services

Each runner must provide assistance to all people in difficulty and notify emergency services.

Don't forget that environmental and racing conditions can make you wait longer than expected for help. Your safety will then depend on the material you put in your backpack.
